Bedroom (2015-2016)
Bedroom (2015-2016) is a body of work that explores my relationship with my bedroom which has, over the years, become both a place of relaxation and anxiety.
Complication (2016)
Through Complication (2016), I am attempting to create new meanings by extracting a personal archived roll of film from a process of complication. Images taken on my film camera are scanned and altered through a Processing code I wrote then saved as JPG and TIF files. These images were initially recaptured on the film camera as black and white images then printed.
Glitch in the System (2015)
The main subject in Glitch in the System (2015) is trapped in a blanket of self-doubt and clouded with identity crisis. In attempt of trying to escape, a distortion occurs and glitches out of control. This distortion is a series of image manipulation applied onto multiple layers using Adobe Photoshop.
Consumed in Time (2015)
Consumed in Time (2015) is a photo series about being under pressure of concurrent tasks and events that leave people feeling anxious about making mistakes. In this series, the images are glitched through trial and error using TextEdit to achieve the same effects in each image. The glitches in both series represent how our surroundings do not always fall into place when trying to make an important decision or when feeling overwhelmed about getting work done simultaneously. Our brains just simply cannot juggle and focus on many things at the same time. These glitches intend to remind people to take their time and give themselves a break once in a while; decisions do not need to be made nor work be done instantaneously.
Unknown (Unpredictable Future) (2015)
The Unknown (Unpredictable Future) (2015) series is all about our future and how we try to look past the present to seek for security in it; we want to know that everything will be alright and that we will be happy in the things we end up doing in the future. The photographs themselves represent the present, in which we try to do our best to pursue our dreams and achieve our goals. The burns, rips, and scratches represent our attempt of looking past the present to see the future. It is like unwrapping a gift or opening some kind of package to see what is inside but instead of actually having something in there, it is just a black void of space. That void represents the future, not in a way to say that we would have nothing in it, but in a way to say that it is very unpredictable and that there is no way of really finding out exactly what will happen. We just have to keep trying and doing the best we can in our work to ensure a better future.
